Porsche Cayenne Turbo
The Detroit show marked the world debut of the new Porsche Cayenne. Yes, it is only a facelift, but there are some significant changes under the new skin too and alongside the regular and S-flavoured models in Detroit was the range-topping Turbo, essentially a supercar on stilts.
We didn't like the Cayenne's looks when it was launched originally and the facelifted model addresses some of our criticisms, with sleeker front lights and a new design of air intake reducing the visual bulk at the front. The rear makes do with subtly modified lights and a diffuser-style apron.
Under the bonnet of the Turbo version, sits a 4.8-litre V8 fed air by two turbochargers. Power is up 50bhp on its predecessor (to 500bhp), with torque a faintly ridiculous 700Nm. Consequently, performance is impressive, with 0-62mph in 5.
1 seconds and a top speed of 171mph. This is still a large SUV, remember?!
