Beautiful it isn't, but scratch beneath the surface of AC Schnitzer's garish orange and white paintwork on its Profile concept and some of the details look good. Chiefly, the already potent BMW Z4 M Coupe's output has been boosted from 343bhp to 350bhp by adopting a new active breathing airbox and remapped ECU.
This should allow the AC Schnitzer Profile to sprint to 62mph in a shade under 5.0 seconds. That's supercar fast. Sprinting ability is enhanced not just buy the extra ponies under the bonnet, but the fitting of a modified rear axle ratio, while its gearshifts are further quickened by AC Schnitzer's Short Shift kit.
Inside features racing seats, carbon-fibre trim and pedals and aluminium inserts, while underneath there's an AC Schnitzer exhaust, sports suspension and strut bracing. Given the rather compromised stiff set-up of the standard car, those suspension modifications might be a step too far for many customers.
If you can see beyond the look-at-me paint job then you might notice AC Schnitzer features a number of body alterations. The wheelarches are widened to accommodate the 20-inch alloy wheels, while the wings feature gill-like vents - as a reverential nod to BMW's classic 507 roadster.
Topping it all off, literally, is a bizarre roof-mounted wing. AC Schnitzer describes it as 'fascinatingly styled'; we beg to differ. There's no mention as to prices or availability, but expect your AC Schnitzer retailer to offer Profile parts soon.
