Take a look at your car; is it really suitable for your needs? It could be that you bought it when your requirements were different and that really it's no longer suitable. Do you need a big 4x4, estate car or sports car? Could you get by with something a bit smaller and more economical? We're not saying that you should just go out and replace your car immediately, but when the time comes to get a new car you should really take a look at how you use your car.
Modern small cars are very space efficient; most superminis can offer space that would have been in the size category above a few years back. In recent years efficiency has rocketed too, with most superminis and small family cars offering excellent combined economy figures. Look at the smaller engine options too, and seek out the manufacturers' most economical models - most ranges have a green version that's been designed to stretch fuel stops even further. Many come with low or no road tax thanks to paltry emissions, too.
