By the end of 2009 the drawing you see here will become the ix35 SUV, a stylish new 4x4 that will replace the ageing Tucson SUV.
Due to appear in concept form at Geneva next month, the new Tucson should hit the stands at Frankfurt in production form. In the meantime, the concept is powered by a 1.6-litre turbocharged petrol engine producing 175bhp, though a 180bhp turbodiesel will be available too, providing masses of smooth torque to pull the versatile five-seat SUV along.
In the vein of the Nissan Qashqai, the new Tucson will be available in either front- or four-wheel drive, offering those who don't need off road traction a cheaper and lighter alternative. Meanwhile, Hyundai will also display the i30 blue at the Geneva show - a 'green' version of its family hatch featuring start/stop engine technology for reduced emissions and fuel consumption.
