If this competition was all about appealing looks, we reckon 9 out of 10 cats would prefer the Alfa Romeo Spider. It exudes Italian charm and conjures up names such as Portofino and Milan, even if you're stuck in the rain in Slough. You can't help but smile when you see the Spider and that's the case whether the roof is up or down.
The great thing about the Spider - if you're more interested in the looks than the driving experience - is that all models retain the same appearance (wheels aside), so nobody needs to know you've opted for the entry-level 2.2-litre model. However, if you actually want the full double espresso version then you should find the 3.2-litre V6 model to your liking, complete with four-wheel drive. It's not cheap, but what beauty!

Alfa Romeo Brera 3.2 JTS Q4
Italian eye candy with a classic V6 engine. |
|
Alfa Romeo 159 1.9 JTDM Lusso
The Alfa Romeo 159 impressed with its specification and road manners but its promised charisma was eclipsed by a lacklustre diesel engine. |
