Damien Hirst Fiats raise £440,000

Even if you go to town on the options list it's difficult to spend over £20,000 on Fiat's diminutive, retro 500, but nobody told the attendees at a charity auction that. At the annual ARK dinner - attended by Hollywood A-listers like Uma Thurman and supermodel Eva Herzigova, among some of the UK's top industry and hedge fund bosses - five Damien Hirst decorated Fiat 500s were raffled for a staggering £440,000.

That equates to £88,000 per car, the five Damien Hirst Fiats helping add to the incredible £15.4 million raised for children's charities on the evening. "I am immensely grateful to the Fiat Group and to Damien Hirst for their unabated support and generosity to ARK," says charity chairman Arpad Busson. "The five beautiful 500s added stunning visual drama to our event."

Uniquely finished by the award-winning artist with butterfly designs, the five Fiats will be picked up by their new owners from Fiat's flagship Marylebone store in London's Wigmore Street.
