Skoda's GreenLine badge is applied to models specifically developed for low emissions of CO2 and enhanced fuel consumption. On Monday, a GreenLine version of the new Superb will go on sale in the UK.
Priced at £16,710 on-the-road, the new Superb GreenLine sits between the entry-level S model and the SE specification in the line-up and features includes 'sunset' glass, cruise control, a four-spoke leather steering wheel, lowered suspension, a small rear boot spoiler and tyre repair kit on top of the S's standard equipment.
That lowered suspension and rear spoiler are part of the package of modifications in the search for better fuel consumption. Along with the tweaks to the aerodynamics, the GreenLine model is lighter and is fitted with low rolling resistance tyres.
Under the bonnet is an updated version of the VW Group's proven 1.9-litre 'PD' TDI engine fitted with a diesel particulate filter. It puts out 105bhp via a five-speed manual gearbox with longer ratios for increased economy.
Skoda quotes figures of 136g/km of CO2 and 55.4mpg on the combined cycle for the Superb GreenLine, which officially goes on sale on October 13.
