If there's one guarantee at the Geneva Show it's that Rinspeed will bring along something completely off the wall. This year it surpassed even its lofty standards of insanity and brought along a sports car that's also a submarine. Seriously. Bearing more than a passing resemblance to Lotus's Elise, the sQuba is propelled by three electric motors powered by lithium-ion batteries. Open topped, the sQuba actually floats until the brave or stupid driver or passenger opens the door to let the water in, an onboard compressed air system and regulators allowing the sQuba's occupants to breathe.
Quite why you might want a sub-aquatic sports car remains the chief question, but it's impossible not to be impressed by Rinspeed's ability to keep coming up with wild ideas and actually making them come true. We've no idea how it'll trump this one, though have no doubt next year it will have a go...
