Toyota iQ, Swap your travelcard for a city car

Toyota might be thinking big in worldwide sales, but with its iQ it's thinking small, very small. Due to be unveiled in production form in Paris this October the iQ is clever city transport. Diminutive proportions externally should mean small interior space, but Toyota has pushed out the wheelbase to the maximum to provide what the Japanese firm describes as 3+1 seating. That's potentially three adults plus one child.

The neatly packaged iQ will be powered by a choice of two petrol engines and a single diesel unit. It's also rumoured that Toyota's hybrid drive may also feature on the iQ on future models. The iQ is not likely to be the cheapest city car you can buy, but it should cost pennies to run. That could make it the perfect car for London, where bus and rail fares are expected to rise by 10% soon. Certain to be good in any city, the iQ could be a clever choice for those looking for small, efficient transportation.
