Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG Estate

If you're after more than 500bhp then you can do a lot worse than heading down to your Mercedes dealer. There you'll find plenty of choice, most wearing the AMG badge to denote their enormous potential. But for the family buyer in a hurry only the E63 estate will do, it fitted with AMG's superb 6.2-litre V8 engine, which delivers 507bhp, beating its key BMW rival in the power stakes, but unable to match the mighty Audi RS6. Even so the Mercedes is able to reach 62mph in the same 4.6 seconds of the Audi, though it'll struggle to match that in less than perfect conditions. Like all the cars here there's no clutch pedal, the E63 featuring AMG's 7G-Tronic seven-speed automatic transmission.

The E63 is the car of choice in the Mercedes range if you're after the ultimate load and people hauler, but if you don't need that extra boot space then the beautiful CLS features the same engine, in a more svelte package.
