This single teaser photo shows a brand new model due to be unveiled by Nissan at the Geneva Motor Show, with production starting in 2010 at the Japanese maker's Sunderland plant - securing 1,100 jobs there.
Very little is known about the Qazana officially, but it will be a little brother to the hugely popular Qashqai crossover, with a lower stance, flared arches and rear-hinged 'suicide' doors. It certainly looks like it will be stylish, with lights flanking the bonnet on top of the front wings, and chrome bullet-style wing mirrors.
The newcomer will seat five and will take over from the Micra as part of Nissan's strategy to move away from traditional segments, in favour of emerging niche markets - a gamble that paid off handsomely when the Japanese firm ditched the lacklustre Almera hatchback in favour of the Qashqai.
Nissan will also display the new 370Z coupé (its European debut), the Pixo and Cube city cars, and the refreshed X-Trail 4x4 at Geneva in March.
