Just like the racers at Le Mans, a car chosen to get there in needs to be reliable and preferably economical. The spanking new A6 Allroad fits the bill perfectly. Diesel really has to be the fuel of choice for such a trek too, and thankfully Audi makes a superb 3-litre V6 engine using TDI technology. Claimed fuel economy on the combined cycle is 33.6mpg, and thanks to the engine's torque this estate/SUV will hit 62mph in only 7.5 seconds. We won't be treating the waiting gendarmes to its top speed of 143mph though. As Audi will be competing this year to be the first ever race winners powered by a diesel engine then it makes sense to drive something so appropriate.
