Chrysler 300C Tourer
American cars are rarely thought of as frugal, but thankfully even the US makers have cottoned onto the benefits of a diesel engine and US cars sold in Europe must have a diesel option in the range to succeed. Enter Chrysler's new 300C Tourer; a stylish estate sired from the 300C saloon, itself a favourite amongst hip hop artists.
Purely from a performance point of view, you could opt for the 400bhp SRT8 version, which comes complete with sports suspension and just about enough chrome for the aforementioned musicians. For the trip to Le Mans though it would make more sense to choose the CRD model, which utilises a Mercedes-
Benz derived turbodiesel V6. It isn't slow (though won't scare your passengers either). Its biggest benefits are comfort and refinement. The 300C has buckets of space too and will earn you plenty of respect in the car parks surrounding the circuit, despite the presence of plenty of exotic sports cars.
