VW Touareg V10 TDI
A couple of years ago, one of the smaller teams actually entered a diesel-powered car in Le Mans, sadly without much success, nor the budget that Audi enjoys. That car's engine was reportedly based on the monstrous TDI V10 usually found under the considerable bonnet of the VW Touareg.
Despite the impression of size, the Touareg will seat no more than its Audi cousin, and though it should run the A6 close in a straight line sprint, it will undoubtedly cost more to fuel and won't be quite as much fun as either the BMW or the Audi when it comes to trying to keep up with the high-speed convoy from the ferry to the racetrack... Still, the Touareg's cabin is a nice place to spend the hours and its lofty driving position helps when overtaking when driving on the 'wrong' side of the road through France.
