Releasing official 'spy' shots seems to be a new trend among the car makers and Ford is joining Vauxhall in this practise by providing two shots of its eagerly anticipated Focus RS under test in a light disguise.
Though there are no surprises in the car's muscular profile, the photographs do confirm that the RS model will be differentiated from its ST sibling by much more aggressive styling. It appears that the restyle includes larger wheelarches, a vented bonnet and a jutting chin spoiler, as well as bigger wheels.
Ford also ended months of speculation by announcing that the RS's five-cylinder engine will send power to the front wheels only, albeit with the help of a new limited slip differential.
It's just as well there will be a new diff, as the turbocharged engine boasts nearly 280bhp and a massive 295lb.ft of torque thanks to significant reworking.
With the RS receiving its first public outing at the London Show next month, Ford hopes to put the new car on sale early in 2009.
