Chrysler 200C EV concept, Electric

The Chrysler 200C EV might be equipped with show-spec chrome rims and an interior too fancy to ever get anywhere near a common-or-garden Chrysler saloon, but make no mistake - this car is the start of something.

It's highly likely you're looking at the next Chrysler Sebring here. The Chrysler what, you might ask? Well, quite. But if this is indeed a preview of the next Sebring medium-sized saloon, there'll be plenty more on UK roads shortly.

This one, the EV concept version, has one or two impressive tricks up its tailpipe. For a kick off, the hybrid electric powertrain will do 40-miles on electricity only before the combustion engine starts, and it has 268bhp and rear-wheel drive. Mind, they're not particularly tricks. These next things, however...

A 'passenger tablet' touch screen unit allows the occupants to surf the Net, watch films and listen to music, and the car can also be linked to a mobile smartphone. Paranoid parents can then use their handsets to watch their wayward children driving to-and-from wild, all-night parties and the such. And the air conditioning, central locking and any other in-car function can also be controlled remotely. Very clever.
