Fisker Karma S Sunset, Dawn of a new day

We'll say it again: the Fisker Karma S Sunset has to be among the best car nomenclature ever committed to a boot badge. What it does, see, is not only tells you it's an open top car (the sunset bit), but also that it's fast (the S bit), and that it will make good things happen to you because it's kind to the environment (the Karma bit, if you believe in that sort of thing).

Fisker was until recently a little known coachbuilder making custom cars for rich folk. It still makes cars for rich folk, but thanks to this it should soon be more famous. The standard Karma is a four-door saloon, but the Sunset S is a two-door drop-top hybrid with a plug-in 'Q-Drive' electric battery powertrain.

Two electric motors, combined with a 2.0-litre turbo engine, give the car an impressive 408bhp, and it can go 50-miles on electricity alone before the engine takes over. That doesn't sound like a great deal, but imagine how much petrol you'll save nipping down to the shops over its life span. Quite a lot, we'd guess.
