In the News
Unsurprisingly, new model news is dominated by the Frankfurt Show. In exactly a month, the doors will be opened to the public and we've been fed more teasers this week, including a picture of a slinky new Mazda6 saloon. In the same day, Subaru, Suzuki and Renault announced their extensive plans for the show too, with a few significant new models from each company charting the future.

The future holds more cost for London-bound drivers if a consultation announced last week on restructured congestion charges approves new proposals, with the biggest polluting vehicles set to cost their owners £25 per day just to drive into the capital. Older cars with large engines are likely to be charged the same.

Speaking of older cars, there were a few anniversaries announced last week too, including Volvo's 80th, the 60th birthday of the humble VW van and a teaser shot of a new Brabus model being built to celebrate the company's 30th. Naturally, the latter will debut in Frankfurt...

Driven
It's been all hatchbacks here at Yahoo! Cars. The week began with two hot hatches, a Mégane Renaultsport and a VW Golf GT; nothing unusual there you might think, but both cars sip diesel. It makes an interesting comparison.

Hyundai will be hoping you'll utter the name of its new i30 hatchback in the same sentence as the Golf and Mégane. We drove one of the first examples in the country and found a car that does indeed merit consideration on values other than price and warranty. Whether it can really be considered to be a competitor for the best in the class remains to be seen, but the i30 is a competent car.

In the Forums
Our forum is alive with discussion on the proposed new congestion charges, with vociferous opinion offered on both sides of the fence, though our readers seem to be focusing on the perceived anti-SUV stance of all this, when in fact it's all emissions related. A clean SUV will be treated just like a clean car if the new proposals go through. Have your say now!

This Week
We'll be busy this week keeping you up to date on the latest news as it happens, with more Frankfurt titbits likely. There's also a shiny black Subaru Impreza RB320 in the car park begging to be driven...

At the end of the week we'll get behind the wheel of one of the first UK-registered BMW M3s, with a trip to the infamous Nurburgring on the cards. Watch out for the story.
