Even as a child I wondered how the military police found it so difficult to find the crack commando unit made up of B.A., Hannibal Smith, Faceman and Howling Mad Murdock in the 'Los Angeles underground'. Surely a big black and silver van with red stripes, a huge spoiler on the back and red wheels would stand out, even in La La land? It's just as well the military cops were so inept though, as otherwise our Saturday evening viewing would have been seriously lacking. B.A.'s van made the programme; even the ever-smooth Face and his white Corvette couldn't match Mr T and his mighty van for cool.
Everyone who grew up in the '80s knew what the A-Team van was, and wanted one so much it hurt. Some lived the dream, later turning Ford Transits and Sherpa vans into A-Team-a-likes in black with a red stripe up the side. But Mr T's wheels were more custom than that; the portion above the red stripe is actually dark silver and his red-wheeled GMC also packs V8 power. The coolest and most recognisable van ever, there's a small part of each and every fellow that grew up in the '80s who'd love an A-Team van in their fantasy garage.
