Lexus has as good as confirmed that the LF-A coupé will go on sale; quite when remains open to debate though. And to tease us some more Lexus has thrown a curve ball and revealed a roadster version of its vision of a sports car at the North American International Auto Show. Like the coupé it's powered by a V10 engine that Lexus claims to be producing in excess of 500bhp. Unlike the coupé though, this one's not been seen out testing on the Nurburgring, yet, though it's thought that removing the top hasn't been too much trouble for Lexus due to the LF-A's lightweight and strong carbon-fibre and aluminium construction.
There's no denying that lopping-off the roof has done little to detract from the LF-A's style, the Roadster looking better proportioned than its coupé sibling. Lexus isn't revealing much more at this stage, but if it's received well at Detroit it's likely that a production version will eventually be offered. When that might be though remains a mystery - the coupé first shown at the 2005 Detroit Show, Lexus clearly not in any rush to get its 'ground-breaking LF-A premium sports car' into its showrooms.
