A good looking car from day one the RX-8 could easily have managed a few years without a makeover. That perhaps explains why Mazda has been pretty subtle with the changes to its rotary-engined coupé. The usual headlamps and bumpers route has been taken for the restyle, the rear lamps now being circular LED items. The wheels are also of a new design and there are larger exhausts hanging out under the rear bumper. Inside the plastics are of better quality, while the front and rear seats have been improved to increase comfort and space.
Mazda fans will be pleased to hear that Mazda hasn't merely given the RX-8 a few visual enhancements. The body is now stiffer thanks to some additional bracing throughout, while a lower differential ratio gives the RX-8 even better response and acceleration. It'll still be as thirsty as ever, the RX-8's rotary engine hardly economical.
