With its billing as a budget manufacturer it's hardly surprising that Perodua has more than one entry in this Five of the Best. The Kenari is the Kelisa's bigger, more spacious relative, which like it, is based on an old Daihatsu model. It's one of the biggest of the five cars here; with a pretty accommodating cabin despite its still small exterior dimensions the Kenari weighs in with a list price of £6,243. That's not a lot, but is also getting perilously close to the sort of money you might find a well discounted Fiat Panda or VW Fox for. Both of these utterly eclipse the Kenari to drive, and for quality feel and finish.
Indeed, that's much the case with all these budget choices, hunt around and there'll be dealers offering keen prices on cars you thought might be out of your reach, most of them able to offer much better equipment, safety and economy.
