Audi has produced an advanced aluminium-bodied luxury saloon for quite some time now. Though the A8 has always been a capable, impressive and good value alternative to the norm from BMW, Mercedes-Benz, etc, it seems to lack that last ounce of desirability. So how did Audi go about addressing this? A Lamborghini engine was fitted...

The Audi S8 was revealed at the Tokyo Motor Show last year and it is due to go on sale this summer. External clues are restricted to a new grille, four exhausts, LED lights and massive alloys. None of those give the onlooker any idea that a 5.2-litre V10 engine sourced from the Lamborghini Gallardo is lurking under the bonnet just waiting to show a pesky Bentley a thing or two. Bragging rights aside, the Audi has acres of legroom and quite a big boot too!
