The Mercedes-Benz SLK has, how shall I put it, an effeminate image. The entry-level models are nice enough in their own right, but they don't really excite. However, Mercedes did let the mad men in AMG loose on their little baby roadster and the result was the rather naughty SLK 55 AMG.
Nobody told the AMG boys that enough was enough though, so they went one step further and produced the Black Series version. Although power and torque upgrades are modest by the firm's standards - with 400bhp and 502lb.ft of torque available - this car is significantly different to the already quite sporty 55 AMG. For starters, the electric folding hard top was ditched to save weight and the suspension is all-new and adjustable for racetrack use.
For that added dose of masculinity there's a Carbon Fibre Package that ensures there'll be no more "hairdressers' car" jibes.
