A man has bought a new Chevrolet pick-up truck in Ohio, America, using $8,000 in small change.
James Jones, 70, dislikes paper money and brought $8,000 in change to the Chevy dealers in 16 coffee cans.
Staff at the dealership had to count out all the money, it taking them an hour and a half to do so.
The $8,000 haul of coins only covered half the balance for the Silverado pick-up, Jones covering the balance with a cheque.
Jones' son is surprised his father even decided to replace his existing pick-up - a twenty-seven year old truck he purchased back in 1981.
Staff at the dealership were amazed when Jones arrived with his stash of coins and stated his interest in buying a new pick-up truck.
Jones doesn't like paper money, the retired engineer telling the Cincinnati Enquirer: "Paper money will burn, it is hard to damage coins."
He saved the money by buying a roll of coins each month, Jones unsure of how long it's taken him to save up the $8,000 stash he used to part-purchase his new Chevy.
With fuel prices rocketing in the US we hope Jones has some more coffee cans of coins in reserve to help run his new pick-up.
