Forget Italian food, celebrity chef James Martin will be sizzling the engine and brakes of his classic Maserati when he takes part in the classic Mille Miglia race.
Martin's 1948 Maserati A6GCS is one of only 15 ever built and he will compete in the famous Italian road race that starts in Brescia this evening (16 May).
Along with hundreds of other competitors, Martin will retrace the route of the original 1000-mile race, though the classic cars cover far fewer miles and at a marginally slower pace.
The race finishes back in Brescia on Saturday 17 May and Martin is driving one of 10 Maseratis entered.
Riding shotgun with Martin is racing driver Sarah Bennet-Baggs, who is helping to film the race for a documentary that will be shown on television later this year.
