Some show cars are fairly easy to report on, and this is one of them: the Skoda Superb Estate is the load-lugging version of the eponymous saloon. Big surprise.
What's all the fuss about?
There's no fuss, if we're honest, but we're getting behind the wheel of the Superb Estate next month and it's good to see that its shape isn't as unwieldy as we feared it might be; the Superb saloon is one big car.
Anything that stands out?
It's as you'd expect, but the enlarged backside has an electrically operated hatch for added practicality, and there's a nice big panoramic sunroof there too. This really will be one of the most practical estates money can buy, with a 663-litre boot that stretches to 1,865 litres with the seats down. In fact, Skoda is predicting modest sales for the Estate, mostly to the fleet sector, although we think the maker is merely hedging its bets - especially given it will undercut plenty of less practical rivals.
When can I buy one?
Like much of what's on display at Frankfurt, this one hits the shelves in Spring 2010 and there are no definitive prices yet; we'd guess it'll start at around £17,000. The engine and gearbox line-up is as per the saloon's.
