If you know your cars you may have noticed something rather familiar about the Holden VE Sportwagon. That's because it's essentially a Vauxhall VXR8 with an even bigger boot. The VXR8 was sired from the Australian arm of General Motors, Holden.
Holden billed the Sydney Show car as a 'concept', but there are likely to be very few changes in design when an estate version of the large VE saloon goes on sale early next year in Australia. Admittedly, the Sportwagon concept is kitted out as a top-line model, with a luxurious leather interior, superb five-spoke 20-inch alloys and the small matter of a 6.0-litre V8 engine under the bonnet.
However, given the times we live in, Holden has wisely modified this Corvette-sourced powerplant to run on E85 (bio-ethanol), as well as featuring a cylinder deactivation system for improved fuel economy. Who cares about all that though; the Sportwagon looks sensational. We're hoping Vauxhall thinks so too...
