A man from Spokane, USA, lost his children and car to an eager repossession agent when he stopped to buy some donuts, reports the Seattle Times. The man had left his children, aged five and seven, in the back of his 1996 Ford Explorer when he parked outside a store to run in to buy some ringed snacks. The police were called by the man when he returned to the parking space to find his car missing, with his children still inside. The repossession man, in his haste to reclaim the vehicle, had not noticed the children in the rear seats. He too called the police when he noticed his passengers when arriving at the repossession storage facility.
It's not illegal to leave children unattended in a parked car in the USA, though if you're singer Britney Spears you can at least leave them with the court appointed supervisor. The singer wasn't stopping for a bag of donuts when she reportedly left her sons in the car, instead shopping for chandeliers...
