Koenigsegg CCXR
At the
Geneva Motor Show this year, the eccentric Swedish supercar maker, Koenigsegg, launched the CCXR, a new version of its proven CCX optimised to run on bio-ethanol. On the face of it, it's a noble move, reducing the car's CO
2 emissions and that of its fuel, but look closer and you'll see the real reason.
Thanks to the inherent properties of the fuel, an engine (particularly a forced induction one) can produce significantly more power when running on bio-ethanol in comparison to even 'super' unleaded. Koenigsegg has managed to extract a claimed 1018bhp from the CCXR and 782lb.ft of torque, figures that soundly trounce the regularly-fuelled car's 806bhp and 678lb.ft. Needless to say that performance will be out of this world, with a potential top speed in excess of 250mph.
Current CCX owners that are 'green' with envy (sorry) will be able to purchase a factory conversion too.
