Most of us have only seen cars from the 1930s in books, but that's the era from which the designers of Audi's Nero concept took their inspiration. The dramatic concept harks back to streamlined record-breaking Auto Unions, including fully fared in wheels. The Nero (black in Latin) is finished in menacing carbon black, with a translucent bonnet to show off the car's substantial engine. There is no mention of the type of engine, but it appears to be a V16! Up front, the daring new Audi grille (first shown on the Shooting Brake concept in Tokyo) adds even more menace to the proceedings, at the same time as linking the other-worldly concept to forthcoming new Audi production cars. You won't need me to tell you that there are no plans to put anything remotely like the Nero concept car into production.
