Beatlemania at Mini United

Mini fans will have a chance to buy a unique George Harrison-inspired car at Mini's 50-year anniversary celebrations at Silverstone later this month. Wearing unique yantra and Sanskrit mantra decorations like those of George Harrison's original 1966 Mini Cooper the one-off Mini will be presented to George's widow, Olivia Harrison, at the Mini United event at the Northamptonshire race track. The car will then be auctioned to raise money for the Material World Charitable Foundation, a charity set up by George Harrison in 1973.

The charity couldn't hope for a better audience to sell the unique Beatles special, with Mini United attracting Mini fans from all over the globe to Silverstone on the 22-24 May. A reinterpretation of the psychedelically-decorated Mini George drove in the Beatles' film Magical Mystery Tour, the exclusive Mini has been designed according to the wishes of Olivia and rekindles the look of George's famous original.

Olivia Harrison said: “George was a huge MINI fan and he would have enjoyed creating this new version. The fact that Mini's anniversary celebrations will also benefit our Foundation has made it an enjoyable as well as meaningful collaboration.”
