Struggling for something to do over the festive season? Why not get to your local DVD emporium and rent one (or all) of our five favourite car movies. It's got to be better than the Queen's Speech, anyway. While petrol heads love a good list as much as the next person (top five most well damped air conditioning dials; top five instrument backlighting colours; top five VW Group cars built on the PQ35 platform - that sort of thing), there are few list makers as fervent and committed to the task as movie buffs. Film lists are a minefield of ifs and buts and arbitrary whims and name calling. Nonetheless, we've risked the wrath of critics everywhere and dared to make a list of the greatest driving films ever. There have, of course, been more than five really good car-based flicks, but we think our five stand out because they've all transcended the car niche to become true greats in their own right. Read on and see if you agree with us, and if you think we've missed anything, get onto the message board and vent your spleen.
