Major of London tries electric sportster

Mayor of London, Boris Johnson, last week took the opportunity to try out the high-performance electric Tesla Roadster for size.

While attending a preview of the IQ2 Green Festival on Climate Change conference and exhibition, Johnson took the two-seater for a test drive.

Although Boris has gone on record as saying that his next car will be electric, he has not confirmed whether he is interested in purchasing a Tesla Roadster.

To date, over 160 Tesla Roadsters have been delivered to buyers globally and the company has a long waiting list for further examples.

The Roadster is produced in Norfolk by Lotus and its electric motor propels the sports car to 60mph from rest in just 3.9 seconds, on the way to a top speed of 125mph.

Tesla recently announced further upgrades to the Roadster to enhance performance and usability, while the company also plans to produce a four-door luxury saloon powered by electricity in 2011.

Four visitors to the IQ2 event will get an opportunity to test drive the Tesla Roadster for themselves. Visit www.iq2greenfestival.com for more information.
