911 GT3 RS

More than other manufacturer Porsche and LeMans are inextricably linked. Porsche has dominated in all classes, the 911 and various derivatives of it having been racing at the classic French race for as long as most memories reach. Today it's racing in GT2 with its GT3 RSR, taking on rivals like Ferrari and Panoz. Porsches have long been the choice of privateers entering the race, not least because they're relatively inexpensive, fast out of the box and reliable (usually).

Porsche plays the homologation rules well too, meaning you can buy a road car that's got many of the bits you'll find on the racers. The GT3 is such a car, a lightened, strengthened 911 with an engine that can trace its roots back to Porsche's 911 GT1 efforts. But for the ultimate road racer 911 you need to add the RS letters to that GT3. 0-62mph in 4.2 seconds and 187mph potential – an awesome machine.
