Aston Martin DB9

Of all the cars in our Five of the Best the DB9 and its DBR9 are the most different in character. The link between the Porsche, Ferrari, Corvette and Lamborghini road cars and their racing relatives is apparent on the road, but with the Aston it's not so obvious. Take a look at the DBR9 and it looks aggressively fast, the wings having wings. It looks like it's being sucked down onto the tarmac when static and spoiling for a fight. And it'll have one, Aston Martin at LeMans to avenge its frustrating losses to Corvette in recent years.

And what better way of getting to LeMans to witness the DBR9's Corvette challenge than in a DB9? Luxurious, fast and classy enough to convince the Gendarmes that you're not some speeding oik and unintentionally broke the 130kph speed limit. The DB9 is a fantastically capable GT car, and looks stunning to boot.
