Lamborghini Murcielago
Lamborghini is more noted for its wild road cars than its racing exploits. In fact, Lamborghini is perhaps better known for providing engines to off-shore powerboat racers than challenging the likes of
Ferrari and Porsche on the race track. That's not stopped the Japanese Lamborghini Owners Club (JLOC) from bringing a Lamborghini Murcielago to France for the past few years to compete in the GT1 category. Never likely to be a front-running car, unless something goes terribly wrong with Aston Martin and Corvette's challengers, the Lamborghini is nonetheless a fantastic crowd-pleaser.
That's hardly surprising, as not even Ferrari can make cars as madcap as Lamborghini. So the Murcielago is a supercar in the real sense of the word, the LP640 coming with a 6.4-litre mid-mounted V12 developing an awesome 631bhp. Like the JLOC racer the LP640 makes a sensation noise, and is ludicrously quick too. We love the fact they're racing, and nobody can help but smile when they see one on the road, either. Sensational.
