Ok, perhaps it's a bit premature to say that the Ford GT is a past master; it only went on sale in 2005! However, the GT is a modern day interpretation of a real classic, the Ford GT40.

The Ford GT began as a concept car built ahead of Ford's centennial year in 2002. Sadly, Ford had to drop the '40' from the name due to copyright issues, though the new car still measures not much higher than the 40-inches of the original. Indeed, the designers have painstakingly recreated the GT40's styling throughout the GT, so much so that a first glance is rarely enough to tell which car you are looking at.

Sitting behind the driver is a 5.4-litre V8, which sounds all-American. Helping it achieve 550bhp is a supercharger. Unlike its '60s counterpart, the GT is actually easy to drive and despite many retro cues, the interior is comfortable to spend any time in.
