The Gallardo LP560-4 recently donated to the Italian police could be powered by a blender and it would still have enough rear view mirror presence to stop any criminal in is tracks. Fortunately that's far from the case, as the blue version is powered by the same 552bhp V10 as the stock car. Why wouldn't it be, really?
And that's bad news for criminals, because there's not much on four wheels capable of getting away from a Gallardo - particularly not a saloon full of pasta munching Mafia heavies. Not that we're stereotyping or anything. Interestingly enough, this LP560-4 replaces the Italian police's last supercar runabout - an original Gallardo with a healthy 87,000 miles on the clock after four years of service. They call that Audi reliability.
Stuffed inside the supercar's police-liveried exterior is the latest GPS system, video equipment, a gun holster, medical paraphernalia and a fridge - which, when not keeping the driver's Dr. Pepper cool can be used for transporting donor organs very quickly indeed.
