This dream cop car is no one-off flight of fancy. Mitsubishi has put the latest Evo through the Met and Government AES electronics tests, which means it can be sold to UK police forces. And sell it will, as Mitsubishi expects to shift over 450 'jam sandwiches' and 200 unmarked cars to police across Britain.
Cops will get to choose between the twin clutch FQ-300 SST or the full fat FQ-360 - making this police car less a Panda and more a hungry lion. And as well as being a pretty foolproof way of chasing criminals, there's a distinct bonus attached to having a fleet of Evos: if the police are ever short of young traffic officers, all they need do is drive one of these to the local youth club and wait to be asked 'where do I sign, mister?' That's assuming the force can afford the fuel bills, of course.
