Skidpan Driving Day

Thanks in part to the widespread condemnation of 'enthusiastic' driving on the public road, there are now hundreds of track and driving days available to the frustrated Schumacher-wannabe. One of the most established companies in the market is Red Letter Days and of the dozens of driving day options the company offers, including rally car tuition and supercar driving, we like the sound of the Skidpan Driving.

For about £200, two people get to learn all about skid avoidance, car control and spin recovery. Depending where in the country you do your course, it can be carried out on a super slippery surface or by the use of a frame that lifts part of the car to simulate loss of grip. Either way, you get three hours of sliding a car around in complete and utter safety. It sounds like a lot of fun, but it could also greatly improve your own driving skills, in particular in an emergency situation. We think it should be a mandatory part of the driving test.
