Alfa shows gorgeous Spider

Alfa Romeo is set to stun the crowds at the Geneva show next month with its new 8C Spider.

Only 500 of the open-top Spiders will be made and they are based on Alfa's sensational recently launched 8C Coupé.

The lucky Spider owners will be treated to a 450bhp 4.7-litre V8 engine with a Formula One-style gearbox.

The six-speed gearbox has paddle shifters behind the steering wheel so the driver doesn't have to take his hands off of the wheel to change gear.

Customers can personalise the colour of the roof to match or contrast with the body's finish.

Alfa says the roof gives the same levels of comfort and quietness as the Coupé when the soft-top is raised.

All 500 8C Spiders are expected to sell out within weeks, just as the Coupé did, and the 180mph convertible should cost around £130,000.
