The Seat Leon has a new 1.4-litre turbocharged engine that delivers more performance for less cash.

It may be smaller than the 1.6-litre petrol engine it's close to in price, but the 1.4 TSI is cleaner, greener and quicker.

The 1.4 TSI sees off 0-62mph in 9.8 seconds thanks to its 123bhp and has a top speed of 122mph.

Compared to the 1.6-litre Leon's 37.2mpg, the 1.4 TSI returns 44.1mpg combined economy and 155g/km of carbon dioxide emissions to the 1.6's 180g/km.

The 1.4 TSI comes in Reference Sport and Stylance trims and costs from £13,755.
