Peugeot might have followed Mercedes in offering a folding hardtop back in the year 2000, but being a mainstream maker the French firm opened up folding metal to the masses. And so it continues with the new 308 CC, Peugeot's trick-roofed mid-sized machine that's not as cramped as its 207 relative. Sharper looking than its somewhat awkward predecessor, the 308 CC is comfortable with its large derriere, pointy nose and gaping mouth. The former is needed to stow its roof, the latter Peugeot's somewhat misguided current design direction.
Still, all the engines and transmissions work well enough and it won't hammer your bank account if you take the plunge either. We'd have an auto diesel for effortless sun-soaked drives.
