Jaguar teases new high-tech XJ

For now, this is all we're going to see of the new Jaguar XJ flagship saloon, which Jaguar today (April 20th) confirmed will make its debut in London on July 9th before going on sale at the end of the year.

Jaguar Managing Director Mike O' Driscoll revealed a few details about the newcomer at the Shanghai Motor Show, confirming that it will be powered by both the new 3.0-litre diesel found in the XF Diesel S saloon and the 510bhp 5.0-litre V8 from the XF-R and XK-R coupé.

We also know that a panoramic glass roof will appear on the options list, as shown on the picture, and that the car will come in both short and long wheelbase versions. The only piece of technical information Jaguar has bestowed upon us is that the XJ will be the first Jag to utilise the 'next-generation of Jaguar's aerospace-inspired aluminium body architecture,' which means it should be generally lighter, faster and more economical than any fat cat that's gone before it.
