Ford now offers drivers the chance to adjust the pedals as well the driver's seat of their Focus or C-Max.

The new pedals can slide back and forth by 55mm at the touch of a button.

Electrically operated, the sliding pedals are an option on the Focus and C-Max and cost £100.

Ford says the pedals are an added convenience when a car is shared between two or more drivers to help them achieve the perfect driving position.

Thomas Svensson is the man behind the idea and said: 'For some customers, finding a seating position which is a comfortable distance from the pedals and steering wheel is difficult.

'With adjustable pedals, drivers can tailor their position easily.'

The control for the pedals is set into the side of the driver's seat and when in its 'zero' position offers the same maximum leg room as the standard car.
