Bugatti has auctioned the first ever Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport at Pebble Beach, California, the open topped car selling for an astonishing £1.7m.
The Grand Sport was auctioned at the Gooding and Company auction over the weekend, the proceeds from the sale going to the Pebble Beach Company Foundation.
Although no official price has been announced for the Grand Sport it's likely that the winning bidder paid at least £500,000 more than they would had they ordered the car directly from Bugatti.
Changes over the standard Veyron are extensive, the central structure of the car having been redesigned to retain the Veyron's rigidity, the Grand Sport also featuring LED headlamps.
The Grand Sport is able to match its coupe relative's 253mph top speed, though top down top speed runs are limited to just 217mph.
Opening up the Veyron to the elements is a removable hard top, with emergency weather protection offered via an innovative umbrella-style soft top stowed in the car.
Around 150 Grand Sports are anticipated to be built, the first 40 cars earmarked for existing Bugatti customers.
Incredible as the Veyron Grand Sport's sale price is it was eclipsed by an older relative at the auction - a 1937 Bugatti Type 57SC Atlantic Coupe selling for £4.2m.
