Look at the official figures from Fiat and you'd believe that the funky Fiat 500 is more economical than its Fiat Panda relative. They share the same engine, and Fiat claims 67.3mpg for this turbodiesel-engined retro ride, but Which?'s tests revealed the Panda to be more economical than the 56.5mpg Which? achieved with the 500. We'd happily take the hit at the pumps though, as despite being fans of the Panda, the 500 is undoubtedly the cooler car. The retro lines are super cute, the interior beautifully finished and it's also a nod to the 500's famous predecessor.
We reckon you could eke out more miles pretty easily too if you really wanted or needed to. Even if that were to be too much of a chore you'd forgive the 500 for not being able to better its Panda relative in the economy stakes for all the admiring glances you'll get when driving it. Economical motoring that's desirable, fashionable and fun? With the 500 you can have it all.
