Ferrari has unveiled the latest piece of green technology to emerge from Maranello. It's a 199kWp 'EnerRay' with twin invertors and an output of 213,985kWh.
Can't wait to get behind the wheel of Ferrari's Tesla beater? Neither could we - until we discovered that Ferrari's latest eco drive isn't a car at all, but a photovoltaic solar panel installed on the roof of its engine making facility.
Ferrari is set on being as eco-friendly as a maker of top end supercars as it can possibly be, so while we probably won't see a diesel hybrid any time soon, it's cutting the impact its production processes have on the environment as much as it can. This solar panel will save over 210,000kWh of electricity annually - cutting Ferrari's overall CO2 output by 25-30 percent. For reference, the average UK household uses around 10,000kWh every year.
To further bolster its environmental credentials, the tree-hugging maker has also planted 200 trees over the last six months, and boasts over 165,000 square metres of 'green areas' around its manufacturing facilities.
