Most of our readers will have heard of the Colt, Micra, Vauxhall Tigra and Peugeot 206, but not everyone will know what a Daihatsu Copen is. Daihatsu doesn't appear to put a lot of cash into marketing the Copen in the UK, which is surprising given how good a car it is.

Ok, so it doesn't compete against the other cars here in real terms. The range is limited for a start, with just one model available. This is powered by a tiny 660cc four-cylinder engine. Ignore the specs though and take the Copen for a test drive and I wager you'll come back with a smile on your face. Low weight and plenty of grunt from the turbocharged engine mean that the Copen actually flies along the road, though being sat so close to the ground increases this sensation! If you can live with the curvy Noddy-car looks (please don't order it in Sunflower Yellow) then the Copen could make a good alternative to the mainstream.
